Digital marketing is always evolving and as technology advances it is evolving rapidly. Marketing methods that worked incredibly well earlier like advertising are losing some steam. Newer methods like conversational marketing using chatbots and influencer marketing are gaining attention and share. Stay on top of the latest changes in digital marketing methods and technologies is a must.
Innovating and getting ahead of change is far easier when you embrace it. ā Josh Burns
To keep customers, scale business, and stay ahead of the competition, make sure you're in lockstep with the latest developments in digital marketing. We will take a look at what I think are some of the latest goodies.
1. Video
Video has some of the best lead generation and conversion rates of any advertising medium. What percentage of time is spent watching videos across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, TikTok, and similar? A ton! Whatever the reason, maybe people being afraid of missing out. This type of content draws in viewers, so they can be the first to learn about breaking events.
I am including podcasts here as well. Although I consider them in exact same category as video. What I mean is, I would select a platform that is versatile in terms of audio/video features. There are some key reasons like costs, scale, efficiency. We tend to have a lot of storage boxes in different places. If we are able to keep everything integrated we are able to move as fast as the business needs us to. So getting back to it, podcasts are definitely in the hot item list.
2. Strategic Demand || Customer Experience
Everyone cares about having a memorable experience. It should be common sense that the experience impacts satisfaction in selecting, buying, and continuing to use the things we pay good money for. Too often these days short-term focus aligns with the time period during which many want to immediately increase value before an exit, or liquidity moment; It is not a frame focused on building longer-term, sustainable growth. It is essential for us to take a step towards a more holistic and comprehensive approach to optimize sales and marketing go to market motion. We will see more and more teams moving towards a more comprehensive model that focuses on every part of the buyer/customer journey.
3. Gamification
Adding interactive features is a fantastic way to give website visitors more of what they want, encourage them to explore the site, and gain insight into your visitors' behavior. Although it is not new it represents a new direction in digital marketing. Many companies are leveraging game design elements to boost client retention and provide cutting edge experiences. In a post on Discord we looked at the 140 million active monthly, I think it speaks for itself.

4. Marketing Automation
This includes automating repetitive tasks so that tools can perform the tasks more effectively and efficiently. Automation covers a wide array of activities, sending triggered emails, personalization, using AI chatbots and many other use cases. Using automation will not only help your team get ahead, but stay ahead as well.
I debated putting this as the first bullet as it a passion of mine, but the scale of which we can automate now is so massive. For some who are building up their program this may not be as high a priority.
5. Voice/Visual Search
Every forward-thinking brand needs to embrace the trend. How many times do people use voice search? At least once a day, month, never on any device? You can enhance your website visitor experiences by providing reviews, support, and information in response to voice queries. It is super convenient, and I am predicting it will rise in use over time.
The only way to ensure continued viability this year is to be aware of, and if not already using, starting a strategy that uses these cutting-edge practices. More importantly, know how to use these tactics and developments in digital marketing to expand opportunities.
